The prep sports scene in the 337 is heating up as the 2025-26 high school boys basketball season kicks off with teams playing their first contests as early as Nov. 17.
With the start of the new season means a new beginning on the long road to the LHSAA Marsh Madness State Tournament. Last season, no team hailing from Lafayette Parish and its surrounding areas came away with hardware. St. Thomas More basketball got the closest, 11 points shy of the Select Division I state championship losing to St. Augustine. Along with the Cougars, 28 other area teams made the Marsh Madness tournament.
