HMRC is warning UK households to check whether they have an unclaimed Child Trust Fund . 758,000 people aged between 18 and 23 have still not claimed their matured Child Trust Fund, HMRC data shows.
The average sitting in one is £2,200. Child Trust Funds were set up by the Government for children born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011.
These accounts began with an initial payment of £250, or £500 for children from low-income households. Families could then add up to £9,000 into the account each tax year.

Young people can withdraw money from their Child Trust Fund once they reach 18.
