An overnight fire has claimed two lives in Brampton and sent four others — including a child — to hospital early Thursday.

And officials say there are people still unaccounted for.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services were called to the semi-detached home on Banas Way, in the McLaughlin and Remembrance Rds. area, around 2 a.m.

Two adults were confirmed dead at the scene and three adults and one child were rushed to hospital in critical condition by paramedics.

Fire Chief Andy Glynn said there are “some individuals still unaccounted for that we’re trying to determine the location of. Because we haven’t been able to gain access to the unit, we don’t know if they are inside or away.”
