COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman was indicted on a murder charge six years after the death of a baby boy she was babysitting, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Alicia Mclaughlin was arrested on Wednesday by Columbus police SWAT officers. She was charged with one count of murder and two counts of endangering children.
According to Columbus police, on April 2, 2019, detectives were called to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for a report of a baby suffering a catastrophic injury. The baby, identified as Ridley Cecil-Wienke, later died at the hospital.
Police said at the time, the baby was in McLaughlin’s care. While details of what happened to the child were not provided by police, detectives said McLaughlin’s description of what happened was not consistent with the injuries the baby suf
