Aliquippa being in the state playoffs is not generally a surprise.

This will, in fact, be the 15th time the Quips have entered the PIAA tournament since it was first contested in 1988, and they have 13 finals appearances and five titles to their credit.

But this is the first time it took Aliquippa three upset victories to win the WPIAL title to get this far.

“We’ll prepare the same way we did for the WPIAL final and every game before this,” Aliquippa quarterback Marques Council said. “We’ll show up the next day and work harder and harder and harder.”
