MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers has ordered flags to fly at half-staff Friday, Nov. 21 in recognition of the fourth anniversary of the 2021 Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy, according to a statement from the governor's office Thursday, Nov. 20.
Executive Order #279 honors the six individuals killed in the attack: 52-year-old Tamara Durand, 81-year-old Wilhelm Hospel, 52-year-old Jane Kulich, 71-year-old Leanna Owen, 79-year-old Virginia Sorenson and 8-year-old Jackson Sparks.
"Four years ago, six of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones were senselessly killed in the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy, forever changing the lives of folks and families in the community and across our state," Evers said in the statement.
