Pascal Siakam scored 22 points, while Jay Huff added a season-best 20 off the bench.
Kon Knueppel had 28 points, Miles Bridges 25 and LaMelo Ball 18 for the Hornets, who lost their fourth straight.
Indiana didn't shoot below 60% from the field or 50% from 3-point range in any of the first three quarters, before fending off a gritty Charlotte rally in the fourth.
Knueppel was active early with nine first-quarter points, but the Pacers rode a 13-5 headstart and a 7-of-13 clip from deep to a 38-33 lead at the end of the period.
