MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan’s first girls basketball win in 2024-25 came in January after the Falcons were already buried under a pile of 13 losses.
Win No. 1 for the new season came on opening night, as the Falcons pulled out a 61-58 decision against the Davie War Eagles.
“It was a good one to start the season,” West head coach Ashley Poole said.
Tiara Thompson’s return to the West program after playing in Maryland last season will be difference-making. There’s no doubt about that. The point guard is a UNC Wilmington recruit. She made 10 of her 12 free throws and scored 20 in Wednesday’s victory.
West also got nice games from Jahneria Hurd (12 points) and Sydney Smith (10 points), two girls who too
