The largest water utility in Alabama has selected its new leader.
The board of directors for Central Alabama Water has selected Jeff Thompson to serve as its first chief executive officer.
This move comes after the state government's takeover of the former Birmingham Water Works, where Thompson worked as the assistant general manager for operations and technical services from 2019 to 2023 before leaving to serve as chief operating officer and executive vice president for DC Water in Washington, D.C.
Thompson began his career as a water resources engineer for The Walt Disney Company after graduating from the University of Central Florida.
