PHOENIX — A Phoenix man is facing kidnapping and assault charges after he allegedly lured a child into a classroom at Orangewood Elementary School, police officials said.

Police were dispatched to the campus on Nov. 19 at about 12:20 p.m. after an "unauthorized man" got onto campus after he gained access to the school behind a student who was buzzed into the school's main entrance, officials said.

The man then allegedly lured a girl into a classroom and sexually assaulted her before the child pushed him away and the suspect fled, police said.

The suspect was allegedly on campus for about 10 minutes.

Court records show the 10-year-old child informed police the suspect told her he was a doctor who needed to "perform tests."
