Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, the bassist for both The Stone Roses and Scottish band Primal Scream has died at the age of 63.

His brother Greg Mounfield confirmed the news on Facebook. He said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother. Gary Mani Mounfield RIP."

He is believed to have died at home. A cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Mani's death comes almost two years after the death of his wife, Imelda Mounfield., who died of cancer in November 2023. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2020.

The couple had twin sons, Gene and George, 12, who were born in 2013. His nephew said: "Thinking of his twins and my uncle Greg at this sad time. He will be reunited in heaven with his lovely wife Imelda."
