MARTINSBURG - Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority (EPTA) Executive Director Elaine Bartoldson detailed major service expansions, facility upgrades and longstanding funding challenges during a meeting with the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee on Wednesday, offering a look into what the local transit agency does and where the money for it comes from.

EPTA is preparing for a significant overhaul of its operations as it moves toward opening a new multimodal transit center in downtown Martinsburg. The project, which it broke ground for last year, is located at the corner of Race and Raleigh streets and is scheduled for completion in 2026, coinciding with EPTA’s 50th anniversary.
