With Auburn’s head coaching search ramping up, interim head coach DJ Durkin was asked on Thursday about his commitment to the program.

Athletic director John Cohen has said that Durkin is a candidate for the full-time job, but Durkin was asked if he has agreed to stay with Auburn through the early signing period or a bowl game, even if he doesn’t get the full-time head coaching job.

“We’re trying to go 1-0,” Durkin said, deflecting the question. “Our focus is to go 1-0 and win this game on Saturday and that’s everyone’s focus in the entire building.”

Cohen told AL.com this week that he wants to keep Durkin at Auburn “no matter what happens.” He even added that discussions about keeping Durkin on staff have come up with other coaching candidates.
