The former CEO of a powerhouse healthcare corporation whose career crashed amid fraud allegations, a prison stint, and a multibillion-dollar judgment says a law firm that played a major role in his cases was doing business with both sides.

Now Richard Scrushy, once one of the state’s most powerful business leaders, is back in court - this time suing Bradley Arant Boult Cummings law firm for malpractice and asking a judge to toss them off the case that saddled him with a $3.2 billion penalty.

Scrushy says lawyers with Bradley Arant secretly worked for both sides and conspired against him. He is suing the firm for malpractice, fraud and conspiracy in Jefferson County Circuit Court.
