JACKSON, MI – Jackson residents along Ganson Street may incur additional taxes for a street construction project.

The Jackson City Council held a public hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 28, and determined the project is necessary for public improvement. The project will resurface Ganson Street from Elm Avenue to the east city limits.

The $914,868 project is proposed to be funded through a $228,898 assessment levied onto 61 nearby parcels. Property owners could pay between $180 to $480 annually for 10 years.

The rest of the project will be funded by $506,400 from a federal Surface Transportation Program, and $179,570 in city street funds.
