A 45-year-old Wayne Township woman has been charged with several counts of animal cruelty after police say she disposed of 10 puppies in a Dumpster at a restaurant.

State police have obtained an arrest warrant for Sylwia A. Zapolska, of Schuylkill Mountain Road, in connection with an Aug. 14 incident in which multiple dead dogs were found in trash bags. One dog survived.

Police said Zapolska works as a dog breeder and has a criminal record in Schuylkill and Lehigh counties, including 26 prior offenses of dog law violations and one active dog-related case in Schuylkill County Court.
