MITCHELL, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Davison County Regional Railroad Authority has announced the approval of over five million dollars in funding to complete rail infrastructure for High Plains Processing.

High Plains Processing, located in Mitchell, is South Dakota’s newest soybean and multi-seed crushing facility.

This brings the total rail loan package to $18,310,700.

The funding will cover any remaining rail costs for the infrastructure expansion, which includes:

33,159 ft of new track

22 new industrial turnouts

2 new BNSF mainline turnouts

Capacity for 100 cars in unit trains

Once the facility is fully operational, it’s expected to handle an estimated 147 rail cars per week with 3-5 weekly switches.
