BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - Bloomington homeowners concerned about lead paint can potentially get it removed for free.
The city is opening applications for its lead-based paint removal testing application. If lead paint is found, the city will provide removal and potential building rehab for free.
It’s open to residents living in Bloomington with homes built prior to 1978. Priority will be given to homes with pregnant mothers or children with high lead blood levels.
Studies have shown that exposure to lead paint can lead to learning issues, growth problems, seizures, and even death.
Those concerned can fill out an application here.
