The Boston Red Sox are one of the better teams in the American League, but they're fighting an uphill battle to improve over the course of the offseason.
The Red Sox are set to lose third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency. Bregman was one of the best players on the team last year, so he needs to be a priority in free agency. Boston can't improve the team before it re-signs or replaces Bregman.
Bailey Bassett of ClutchPoints recently projected Bregman would sign a massive five-year, $150 million deal and listed the Red Sox as the best fit.
"Speaking of Devers, his replacement was supposed to be Alex Bregman," Bassett wrote. "The Boston Red Sox can't afford to lose both third basemen in less than a year, so they need to do whatever it takes to bring Bregman back. He is a clear defense
