DOVER — A large police presence was seen in the area of New Rochester Road and Weeks Crossing during the afternoon of Nov. 20, with officers engaged in an "active investigation." This resulted in traffic being diverted and some students being held at city schools.

What police were responding to was not immediately clear. Dover police announced they were working with Somersworth police in the area of New Rochester Road.

"Traffic is being diverted until the situation is resolved. We ask the public to avoid the area, if possible, follow all traffic directions from officers on scene, and allow emergency personnel to work safely and efficiently," Dover police announced.
