JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - Jackson is rolling out a new program, “Eyes on the Block,” providing 100 Ring-style cameras to homes in neighborhoods hit hardest by violent crime.

The goal is to give residents more visibility and deter criminal activity.

Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney says the cameras will make neighborhoods safer without putting residents in danger. “People are tired. They’re tired of not feeling safe,” Mahoney said. He added that they “also don’t want to always have to risk their own lives by having to go out and testify,” and specifically having to say “I saw this happen.”
