Bison advocates are asking a judge to reopen their 2019 case and require the Forest Service to conduct its own environmental analysis regarding the ability of bison to access Montana forest lands outside of Yellowstone National Park.
The motion, filed on Nov. 14 by Neighbors Against Bison Slaughter, asks the court to order the Forest Service to complete an environmental impact statement within one year.
Yellowstone bison management is overseen by the Interagency Bison Management Plan, a coalition of state and federal agencies and tribal cooperators who Neighbors Against Bison Slaughter also contend violates the Constitution by “delegating authority to a nonfederal entity.”
