SPOKANE, Wash. -- Providence Sacred Heart Hospital says it will be stopping its heart transplant program and helping waitlisted patients find other facilities.
According to Providence, the pause is temporary due to "key vacancies within the program."
Providence says it will assist patients on the transplant waitlist with transitioning to other facilities for care. Patients on the waitlist will retain their accrued waitlist time.
The hospital did not say when the program might resume.
