SPOKANE, Wash. — Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center announced Thursday that it has temporarily paused its heart transplant program due to vacancies within the program.
“Providence has a long history of advancing cardiac care in the Inland Northwest, and we remain committed to supporting patients and families with exceptional expertise,” said Providence chief medical officer Dr. Dan Getz. “Our priority is to provide the best possible care for our patients and our community throughout this transition.”
To comply with regulatory requirements, Providence says it is assisting patients on its heart transplant waitlists to transition smoothly to other centers for their transplant.
