Gratefull Chattanooga is described as one big Thanksgiving meal with strangers. The city blocks off one street in the heart of downtown Chattanooga.

It has quickly become a staple in the community.

Event attendees and new residents to Chattanooga, Shields and his wife, Sian, say they love how the event brings neighbors together. "seeing communities grow, sometimes they lose that community feel, but it feels like the community is growing here," says Sian.

Others, who have attended the Gratefull in the past, were excited behind-the-scenes at the event.

Madison Mcmahon says she has been volunteering at the event for a few years. "I feel like every year it just becomes larger and larger," she says. "we are reaching more people and I think it's just a great event to give back."
