After an attorney for a Hialeah teen accused of fatally stabbing his mother withdrew from representing him , a trial date set for next year could be prevented from moving forward.
It’s been more than two years since the now-15-year-old Derek Rosa allegedly confessed to stabbing and killing his mother, Irina Garcia, more than 40 times.
Since then, Rosa has been behind bars while attorneys prepare for a trial set for this upcoming January.
But now, Rosa’s attorneys want an extension, because Jose Baez, the high-profile attorney known for representing defendants like Casey Anthony, withdrew from Rosa’s case last week.
