BOSTON —
As winter approaches, some Massachusetts families are reluctant to turn on their heat because the federal funding they rely on to help pay their heating bills has been delayed.
On Thursday, Gov. Maura Healey called on President Donald Trump to immediately release funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, a program that helps more than 150,000 Massachusetts households during the winter months.
Households like Brenda Saucer's.
Saucer showed NewsCenter 5 some of the warm clothing she says she's been wearing at night.
She says she's been keeping her thermostat as low as she can stand.
"65-64 degrees is where we leave it at the temperature," Saucer said. "I pull out these big furry socks that have lots of fur in them."
