SUMTER, S.C. — Authorities have released new details about a deadly crash in Sumter County that killed three people early Thursday near Shaw Air Force Base.
Just hours after the collision, the Sumter County Coroner identified the victims as 33-year-old Sebastian Arnett, 35-year-old Thomas Arnett and 20-year-old Gabriel Hansen. All three died at the scene. Officials confirmed Hansen was an Airman stationed at Shaw.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened just after midnight at the intersection of Broad Street and Copley Drive, about 4.5 miles west of the city of Sumter. According to troopers, a 2021 Subaru sedan was traveling east on Broad Street when a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer drove north from Copley Drive, resulting in a collision at the intersection.
