On what is expected to be a rainy afternoon Friday across the north state, Northern Section CIF football semifinals will take place, with berths to the NSCIF championships on the line.

Semifinals will take place Friday night for divisions II through V, but D-IV and D-V championship games will be held Nov. 26 and D-II and D-III championship games will be held Nov. 29.

Beginning in the NSCIF D-II semifinal matchups, the No. 1 seed Pleasant Valley (7-3) hosts No. 4 Foothill (6-5) at 7 p.m. in Chico, and No. 2 Red Bluff (8-2) hosts No. 3 Chico (9-2) at 7 p.m. in Red Bluff.

PV defeated Foothill 38-28 on Oct. 24, but at that time the Vikings were playing with their star running back/linebacker Titus Andrus. Andrus suffered a season-ending injury on the first play from scrimmage in the Vikings
