The area round of the high school football playoffs is underway in the Texas Panhandle.

After a number of teams from around Amarillo won their first-round matchup to claim a bi-district championship trophy, the second round offers a new challenge. As schools go deeper into the postseason, travel distances increase and opponents become more formidable, that will begin to take effect this week for teams from the region.

West Plains and Lampasas square off on Friday in Snyder after the Wolves eliminated the Badgers from the playoffs in 2024. On Thursday, Snyder plays host to another rematch from the 2024 postseason as Wall meets Childress in a Class 3A Division II matchup.
