GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - With Thanksgiving just a week away, Green Bay police are warning drivers to be extra cautious.
OWI arrests are up 20% this year in Green Bay, and authorities say the week of Thanksgiving is one of the most dangerous on the road, even as crashes related to impaired driving are down slightly.
One of the busiest nights on the road is what’s known as “Blackout Wednesday”, the night before Thanksgiving.
Green Bay Police Department traffic sergeant Hamill says the combination of holiday celebrations, college students back home on break, and a culture that police say doesn’t always appreciate the consequences of impaired driving means drivers are often making the wrong choice.
