PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating two sexual assault cases involving a student, and detectives believe the same individual is a suspect in both incidents.

One assault reportedly occurred during a social event at a residence hall, while the other happened at an off-campus location, authorities said.

"It's really scary, especially in a city school," sophomore Khushi Patel said.

"Unfortunately, it wasn't as shocking to me. We live in a time where we see this stuff every day," sophomore Mujtaba Jaffer told Action News.

Police identified the suspect on Wednesday. Temple University said the student has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

The individual's name has not been released.
