HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Has Hartford’s Civilian Police Review Board done the job they were appointed to do?
The I-Team has learned that until recently, the board did not share findings of police misconduct with Hartford’s police chief, despite being mandated to do so.
The Hartford Civilian Police Review Board is an oversight committee made up of volunteer civilians. Their job is to investigate and review complaints of misconduct against police officers.
The board works alongside Hartford’s Office of the Inspector General and once a month, discusses their findings in public meetings.
In a ZOOM meeting Wednesday night, the city’s inspector general, Joe Lopez, gave a presentation on how far the board has come. Lopez took over the job in November 2024, after being appointed by Mayor Aruna
