AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is rebuilding their camp with expanded facilities after Hurricane Helene destroyed the original structures.
This forced the cancellation of camp for the first time in the organization’s history.
Jeff Wilson, chair of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, said the decision to cancel camp this year was difficult.
Burke County holds drive-thru diaper giveaway for parents
The Burke County Department of Family and Children Services held a drive-thru diaper giveaway to provide parents with essential baby supplies.
“We pulled the plug and it was difficult because it was the first time we had to do that,” Wilson said. “Some girls didn’t go to camp and some went to other locations, but we don’t ever want to have to do that again.”
