A Long Island man has been arrested again after detectives say he attempted to take photos under the shorts of a teenage girl at a Suffolk County supermarket.

Aqeel Ahmad, 53, of Selden, was taken into custody Thursday, Nov. 20, following an investigation into a reported incident at the ShopRite in Selden on Thursday, Sept. 11, Suffolk County Police said.

Ahmad allegedly attempted to use his cell phone to photograph underneath the shorts of a 17-year-old girl while she was shopping, police said.

He was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance and is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct before arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.

The new charge comes weeks after Ahmad was arrested in a separate October case involving a 13-year-old girl at another Selden store.

In that earlier incident, detectives said the girl was browsing greeting cards when Ahmad bent down and used his cell phone to take pictures under her dress.

Ahmad was arrested onTuesday, Oct. 28, near the intersection of College Road and Galaxie Lane and charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with that incident.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Ahmad to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
