KINGSTON, N.Y. — Christopher Baldner was found not guilty of murder for the Dec. 22, 2020, crash that killed 11-year-old Monica Goods on the state Thruway in the town of Ulster.
An Ulster County jury also found the former state trooper not guilty of three counts of reckless endangerment stemming from that crash and three other reckless endangerment counts involving a September 2019 crash on the Thruway.
But after deliberating for six hours on Thursday, jurors said they were still unable to reach a verdict on a second-degree manslaughter charge.
In a note just before 3 p.m., jurors told Judge Bryan Rounds they were “hopelessly deadlocked” on that charge.
