An Alhambra Police Department officer was killed in a collision that left another person dead early Thursday, Nov. 20.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near Valley Boulevard in Alhambra around 3 a.m., Officer April Elliott of the CHP Southern Division told the Desert Sun.

Alhambra Police Department Officer Alec Sanders died from his injuries at the Los Angeles General Medical Center. Sanders was covering another person’s shift and was working by himself at the time of the incident, which is “standard,” according to Alhambra Police Chief Garrett Kennedy in a news conference clip published by Fox 11 Los Angeles .
