LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Nearly 40,000 people are expected at Friday’s Silver Bells in the City celebration, prompting local law enforcement to increase security measures for the holiday event.
Lansing Police will deploy more than 100 officers specifically for the celebration, according to Chief Rob Backus.
“We bring a lot of our personnel downtown to staff this event. We’ll have over 100 of our police officers working this event, specifically,” Backus said.
The celebration’s main attraction is the Electric Light Parade, which travels down Washington and Capitol avenues. Officers will be stationed at traffic points throughout downtown to manage congestion.
