LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - U.S. Congressman Mike Flood delivered a speech on the House Floor Thursday, celebrating 10/11’s former chief meteorologist Ken Siemek on his retirement after 44 years of service to the Lincoln community.

Siemek retired Oct. 30 after 44 years at the station.

“For over 40 years Ken has informed Nebraskans with vital, sometimes even life-saving weather updates,” Flood said.

Flood said Siemek quickly became synonymous with the trust and reliability in the Lincoln market upon joining the station in 1981.

“He was an ever steady presence on the newscast and on the air,” Flood said. “From warning families of severe storms to sharing forecasts with the news of a sunnier tomorrow, Ken’s calm, steady voice resonated deeply across the Lincoln media market.”
