ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Law enforcement in O’Fallon, Mo., is the first in the region to adopt a drone program that assists officers responding to high priority 911 calls.
The technology, called Flock DFR, launches a drone automatically in response to a 911 call. While not every call warrants a drone response, the O’Fallon Police Department said it will be used in a variety of situations, from car accidents to reports of a suspicious person.
“We can get that drone launched before that call is even dispatched and have it on scene, many times before that call comes out over the radio,” said Chief Frank Mininni.
The city is spending around $1.7 million from use tax revenue on the program over the course of the next five years. A total of six drones will be placed in pairs, on three
