ALGOMA, Wis. (WBAY) - In Small Town Algoma, Jay Livesey and his Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are hard at work, preparing for competition with the American Kennel Club.

“It’s just amazing what some of these dogs can do,” Jay said. “We [breeders] all aspire to breed a dog that is as perfect as possible.”

It’s a hobby for Jay he stumbled into when he was first looking at getting a dog of his own.

“I wanted a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, so I met a woman and she sold us a puppy, and it was a pet,” Jay recalled. “I hadn’t really even considered showing a dog in my life.”

That quickly changed.

“Oh what the heck, I’ll try it,” Jay remembers deciding. “In 2011, I went to my first show knowing nothing, and really the first dog that I had was probably a pet because it took me two years to m
