PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Students at the Multicultural Dual Language Academy in Peoria learned what it means to raise money for people in need.
A fourth-grade class, as part of a financial literacy unit, held a “market night,” which was the pinnacle of the unit.
Students each made a product to sell and overall, the kids raised $845.52. They decided to donate it all to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
“They were so excited and they knew that it was a lot of work,” said Adam Arenas, their teacher. “But again, their head was just focused on the goal of giving back and they decided that St. Jude was the place that they wanted to give back to.”
One fourth-grade student, Antonio Galindo, said that if they were given more time, even more money would have been raised.
