State and local agencies in Massachusetts and Maine are actively searching for a university professor who was last seen on a small island off the coast of Portland and has been missing for nearly a week.
Wiley Davi, 57, was last seen on Peaks Island on the evening of Nov. 15, according to the Maine Warden Service, as reported by ABC News. The search efforts focused on the island's hiking trails and other wooded areas, while the Maine Marine Patrol searched the surrounding waters.
Peaks Island is a little over one square mile and is considered a part of Portland, Maine.
"At this time, the investigation has not revealed any evidence of foul play," Portland police said in a Nov. 20 Facebook post. "We continue to ask residents to check any outbuildings on their property, including sheds and garages, as well as vehicles for anything suspicious."
The agency urged anyone with information about Davi's whereabouts to call 207-874-8575 or text the keyword PPDME along with their message to 847411.
Davi is an English and media studies professor at Bentley University, a private school in Waltham, Massachusetts, according to its website.
"Our hearts and minds are with Wiley and their loved ones, and we are hoping and praying for Wiley's safe return," the university said in a statement to ABC News on Nov. 20.
