BRANFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A pedestrian was killed in a crash Thursday evening in Branford in the area of 13 North Main Street, according to the Branford Police Department.

The Branford Police Department, along with the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit, are conducting a full investigation at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The roadway is closed between Main Street and Cherry Hill Road to all traffic for safety and investigative purposes. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The identity of the pedestrian is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
