The Vancouver Aquatic Centre is reopening Friday after closing weeks ago, the park board said Thursday.

The facility was closed for repairs after a small piece of the ceiling fell into the pool.

“During the closure, the facility underwent a thorough safety review, and precautionary ceiling netting was installed to ensure the safety of patrons and staff,” the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation said.

“These measures were inspected and the facility determined to be safe for public use this week by the City’s Chief Building Officer and structural engineers.”

Jeannie Lo is president of the Canadian Dolphin Swim Club, a 70-year-old competitive club with more than 400 swimmers.
