BURLINGTON, N.C. — A 19-year-old Roxboro woman has been indicted on a second-degree murder charge after police say she was impaired during a September crash that killed a Burlington man.
A grand jury returned the indictment on Monday against Paige Moore following what Burlington police described as a detailed reconstruction of the Sept. 27 head-on collision on E. Webb Avenue (Highway 87) near Flanner Street.
Police said Moore was driving a 2010 Audi A4 around 5:19 a.m. when she crossed the center line and struck a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 66-year-old Richard Smith of Burlington. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and required extrication before being taken to local trauma centers.
