BUFFALO, N.Y. — New York State’s $50 million investment in Buffalo’s East Side is fueling a range of homeowner assistance and revitalization efforts, and while local leaders say the funding is meaningful, they emphasize that the need in the community remains far greater.
New York State Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes, who has long advocated for East Side reinvestment, framed the funding this way:
“Fifty million dollars is literally peanuts for a community that needs so much, but you have to be grateful for what you get. Because 30 years ago, if we would have had this kind of investment on a consistent basis, you would see a remarkable difference here.”
