BELEN — Strutting around students in a sequin-laced white pantsuit, an envoy carrying the message of famed rapper Jay-Z visited a working class New Mexico town to deliver instruction in what locals said is much-needed topic: financial literacy.

Aireial “Blonka” Mack, 34 — a self-described “visionary” with a street named after her in New Orleans and a key to the city — ended her 10 states, 10 schools tour in Belen on Wednesday for around an hour of teaching she said is designed to break cycles of poverty in underserved communities.

“We all screwed 'cause we never had the tools,” she told students, quoting the lyrics to “Family Feud” by Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter. “It’s really a generational curse that we’re here to break,” she added.
