Sarsuna College marked the World GIS Day by receiving the prestigious ‘Centre of Competence’ title from ESRI India. This recognition, typically conferred upon IITs and universities, was handed over by Dwaipayan Dighal, VP, business development at ESRI, to the vice-principal and geography professor of the institute, Prashasti Bhattacharyya. The honour acknowledges the college’s decade-long contribution to GIS and remote sensing education.

The felicitation took place during a seminar, Advances and Growing Importance of GIS on Present Day Life, featuring Dighal as the keynote speaker. Over 200 participants, including officers, school teachers, faculty members and students, attended the session. The event also included a poster exhibition showcasing research conducted on the GIS platform.
