India Test captain Shubman Gill will reportedly not take part in the second Test against South Africa, set to get underway from Saturday in Guwahati. He has been released from the squad. Gill had hurt his neck while batting in the first Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, following which he was hospitalised.
According to timesofindia.com, Gill has left Guwahati for Mumbai where he will take rest for a few days before consulting Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala on future course of action.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will reportedly captain India in the second Test.
On Thursday, India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak had said Gill was to be assessed by the physio a day before the start of the 2nd Test.
The 26-year-old ended up hurting his neck while batting on Day 2 of the first Test in Kolkata. He
